Alsatian wine glasses - Help!

Hello,

I am looking to buy Alsatian wine glasses as a gift for someone and I have no idea where to find them. They have a green stem and a "Burgundy bowl" as the Alsace website said... I dont know much about wines but would really appreciate if someone knew of a website with difficult to find or more unique glasses. Thank you so much for your time.

Welcome to the board, Sed. The description sounds like the glasses used for Mosel wines. They are very common in southern Germany; as you travel north into the Rheingau region, brown-stemmed glasses are preferred, due to the golden color hues of the wines in that area.

In your search on the Internet, use as your search terms Mosel wine glasses, M-S-R wine glasses, Moselle wine glasses... all as synonymns for the same thing.

You don't specify your location. If it's in or near a large city, you might also check antique/collectible shops in your area. Just be sure to use those alternate terms in your search.

Thank you for your reply! I am in Meridian MS (small town) so that is probably not an option. I recently went on a trip with my boyfriends parents down the wine route in france, and they drank rieslings that were served in these glasses with the green stem. They mentioned how they did not have riesling glasses so I wanted to get them some as a gift but had no idea how to start. I will try these searches, and I really appreciate your time in replying!

I should have also offered Riesling glasses as a search term, since Riesling is the grape variety involved in production of Mosel wines.

Because of the decorative bowl they aren't the best wine glasses for judging the color of the wine but they are fun and festive on a place setting. They also are available in clear glass at a lower price.
