Going to Alsace France wine region. Anyone been before that could answer some questions? i.e. heard you have to set up appointments for tastings, unlike Napa/Sonoma where you just "stop in" Don't want to be disappointed by getting there and we can't do tastings because we didn't set up appointments. Any advise or words of wisdom on where to go in that region, etc. is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi Francey, and welcome to the Wine Board. Go out and get a copy of the revised "Wines of Alsace" by Tom Stevenson. It will be a huge help to you. If by some circumstance your answer is not in the book, e-mail him. If his address is not in the book, you can find it here on the Board.

Too bad Bucko just left for a vacation. He just got back from Alsace a couple of months ago.
