Now, ya heah?

Packin' for seven-day cruise around the Carib-
beeeeen for Mother's Day with a bunch from our church. Leaving early tomorrow. Can only bring ONE BOTTLE PER PERSON on board! WAAAH!

Y'all be nice, now. No eye-gougin', crotch-kickin', ear-bitin', or any of that. Well, at least no eye-gougin'. Back next Sunday late.

I'm curious... what are you taking for your one bottle/person allotment?

Still cogitating on choices for the two wines. I'm leaning toward an '05 Ch. Gloria for one, given the tastes of two other couples we're traveling with (would like at least a single datapoint to know if further buys are indicated). Maybe a white burg as the second, although concerned about ability to chill it on board. At this rate, I'll still be cogitating as we're closing up the house tomorrow and may just grab something....

One bottle -- I'd take a Jeroboam of Latour.

We be back. Took the '05 Gloria and an '04 Embuix Priorat. The latter was great, the Gloria not near ready for prime time. With no decanter, it was simply pour, sniff & gulp. Shows nice promise, but wouldn't touch another for several years.

Others we were traveling with brought their own contributions, so we had plenty of juice. And the ship's dining room wine list was much better than expected - chose a nice Ch. Beaumont Bordeaux (unk. vintage), a Barbera d'Asti, a Puilli Fusse', a red burg (for D with salmon), a Sauvignon Blanc... maybe others. We normally had dinner with wine by the glass each evening, then retreated to one of our group's cabins for after-dinner vino. Very nice, good friends, fun time. We were traveling in a group of 52 from our church on Carnival Conquest. We'll do it again.
