I was making a few changes in the board set up last night and I noticed that there is an OPTION to show member's e-mail addresses publically, or to NOT show them.

We've always shown them publically to encourage honesty, I guess. There were a couple of despicable characters though that bombarded a few of our folks with spam after seeing their email addresses here... WW will recall. I've heard that some of us may have deleted our email addresses from our profile for this reason.

Anyway, last night I took the liberty of changing the setting to NOT show e-mail addresses anymore. This is easily undone though. I can change the setting back quite easily. Tell me which you all prefer? Is there a consensus on showing or not showing email addresses?

Pls. advise me of your opinion.

Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie dear. You know my thoughts on the matter. If anyone wants my E-mail address, all he or she has to do is ask for it and I'll gladly forward it. You might add a thread "Request E-Mail address". ww

I prefer to show e-mail addresses. All anyone has to do if harassed is to put that person in their kill file -- end of story (just like I did WW). ;-)

Some other boards have the option to make showing email addresses a member specific option. In other words members can turn that feature on and off individualy. Maybe that would be the best option if it is available with this forums software.

I do not want anyone to know my e-mail address. If anyone has a problem with that, they can contact me at singacappella@hotmail.com

What e-mail program are you using? Most have a kill file.
