by mid-afternoon this saturday, there will be 79 more veterinarians in our world, thanks to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine's Class of 2005. one of those will be my wife. it has been an incredibly tough, long road. i wouldn't recommend a four-year commuter marriage to anyone. but i couldn't be more proud of the end result: Dr. Elizabeth St. Clair.

Please pass on our congratulations, and tell her we were very sorry we could not get together when we were down there.

Congrats to you both. We used to hear fairly often from a female veterinarian in Rhode Island but I haven't seen any postings from her in awhile. Does your wife have a job lined up--with small animals?

Funny. As soon as I saw Drew's barking post, my dog barked twice--I guess he wants to congratulate too...

thank you ALL for the well wishes (that goes for foodie's dog and GAD's cat, too).

also....

mr. & mrs. IK: i am indeed sorry we missed each other when you were down this way. let's not let that happen again if you return.

WW: yes, i do wish i saved that bottle. but it sure drank nicely last may on our anniversary!

WOW: yes, my wife will be starting work july 1 at a nearby small animal hospital.

bucko: my wife still is considering doing the internship/residency thing in a few years to get board certified as either a surgeon or an animal behaviorist. but she wants to get out there and get a few years at a practice doing gen med under her belt. her last 2.5 years have been clinical rotations and internships. we'll see if she decides later that she wants to go "back to school."

Waaay to go, Mrs. Newsguy! You gotta admirethat kind of persistence and drive. I hope her decision to "go to the dogs" proves to be as profitable and fulfilling as she wants it to be. Standing O from Sea-patch.
