Has anyone here tried Dan Aykroyd wine? A local shop is having him in to promote it and sign bottles. Good or bad, I'm getting myself a bottle to sign. But is it worth $15 a bottle to get a bottle for drinking too? As a fan, I'd pay the $15 for the signed bottle as a souvenir.

Let's put it this way; he came here and we didn't go.

Dan's wine is actually being made by Diamond Estates consisting of the four wineries- Lakeview Cellars, EastDell Estates, Birchwood Estates and Thomas & Vaughan. These are located in Ontario's Niagara region.

I had a taste of the wines and while they weren't exactly stellar, I did not need to pour them out either. Nothing to write home about though.

There is a pretty rough stigma about celebrity branded wines. Most of them flop.

Maynard Keenan, the lead singer for Tool and Perfect Circle. He's coming into Austin to promote his wine Caduceus. Has anyone tried this wine?

Akroyd also has a wine venture with the current owners of what used to be DeLoach. Those wines are supposed to be pretty good.

PW - Not aware of celebrity wines that have flopped recently. Which ones??

I know there were plans at some point to do a Paul Newman's own wine, not sure how that ended up. Rolling Stone's had a release, that never went anywhere. Last I heard, Mike Ditka has a wine that's not doing so hot.Savannah Sampson (adult star) had an italian wine that went South...

I think some of the Greg Norman wines are decent.

Never heard of Savannah Sampson, but the others are still out there. They may not be selling as much as Charles Shaw, but I have seen them on the market.
