I would like to buy some bottles of wine to store for my children and give to them when they become adults. Birth years are 1994 & 1996. I know almost nothing about wines. Can anyone recommend wines that will store nicely that long, and are (hopefully) not too expensive now?

Thanks.

To my mind the most consistant ager is Brunello Di Montalcino. It has to age at least 15 years, and will go 10 longer with no problem. The 1994s are out now, and you will have to wait a couple of years for the 1996s. If you are concerned about price stay away from the "Riservas." Second tier regular Brunellos start at $30.00, but can think of no more reliable "birthwine" to present to the new adult.
