Might it have been a late harvest Zinfandel? Or was the wine you tasted a white wine?

If a white wine, it might be a late harvest riesling or chardonnay. Jed Steele is making a late harvest chardonnay now. (However, he is not based in Napa but that's one example).

Our experiance with wineries throughout California is that most of them produce one or more dessert wines that often never make it out of the tasting room for sale. The most common of these are the red, late harvest zinfandel, and the white, late harvest muscat. Love the muscat dessert wines.

Hi there ole' K in Ky and welcome to the board. 5 years ago if you bought the wine at a restaurant I'd wager it was Quady Essencia. An absolutely delicious after-din-din necter that has seduced many a beer drinker. WW
