I saw at the local wine store some cartons of what looked like pop, but was mini bottles of wine, around 12-16 oz., I think.

It was 6 bottles in a little carton that could be carried, remined me of old days with bottles of coke cola (just aged myself, <BG> [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img] ).
Does anyone know anything about these? They looked just like the larger bottles, but were small versions, and I wondered if the companies had them as samples, for newbies to try out, or something.

Are they worth buying, or what? This inquiring mind wants to know.

Sounds like the 6 packs of Sutter Home wines, and such, in .375ml bottles. Usually mass produced average to low average wines, imho.

Ah ha! Inspector Drew is wrong!!!!!!!! They are 187 ml bottles. 375 ml bottles are "half bottles." I use the Sutter Home 187 ml Cabernet all the time for cooking. I find them far superior to the "other brand" out there. To the best of my knowledge they come in four packs, not six packs. Would you believe that we have to pay $.15 deposit on each one of those things!

Found some Yellow Tail Shiraz in the 187s this morning for a buck less than the Sutter Home Cab. Will let you know how it turns out.

hummmmm, hubby and I just got back from local grocery store, besides buying stocking up on steaks (finally selling Angus beef) we bought two bottles of wine, one is Yellow Tail Shiraz and the other is a Blue Nun don't remember off hand what it was called, something Reinhessen I think was on the bottle.

So, now two of us are wondering about the yellow tail, how good it will be.
looking forward to seeing what is said.

Sorry, Blue Nun is plonk. The Yellow Tail brand is coming on strong at the beginning price point.

Yeah, IK, I agree, but here's what a wine shop has for their take on Blue Nun. Go figure.
