Okay stupid question...
I received a bottle of 1997 Opus One Overture for a wedding gift. I am a bit confused though because this bottle came in an Opus One box with an information card that clearly states the Opus One history and its 1997 vintage. No where does the card distinguish that this is an Overture bottle.

I know that Overture is the "little brother" to Opus but can someone please explain the difference and what its worth may be?

Did my wedding guest just try to pull a fast one on me by switching boxes?

Hi B416 and welcome to the board. The Overture is the 2nd label of Opus that is sold only at the winery. It is juice that has been deemed as not good enough to make the cut as Opus. Your friend probably had nothing to do with the boxing as the winery probably doesn't have a special packaging for the Overture. Count your blessings and send a nice thank you, as this wine is probably as good as any you'll receive as a gift, Ever! WW
