last Friday before setting off on a weekend camping trip a great thing happened. Every Friday the local Wine Haus hosts a tasting. I needed to pick up another bottle of wine (one can never have too much you know!)so we swung in and they were sampling wines from the Erath winery in Dundee, Or. Hubby and I selected what we thought was a great Pinot Noir and the shopkeeper says to us, "Great choice and you see that tall guy over there?" "Well that's Cal Erath and he'd be happy to sign your bottle!" So we introduced ourselves, he signed our bottle and now I have a great souvenir from a terrific weekend. He was sooo nice. Just thought I'd share that with you all and oh yeah, the wine WAS great! Take care!

Nice things happen to people who live in wine country. Guess I'm going to have to go vist the only grape winery in Maine again soon. It's only 45 minutes away. Think of how many you could visit in that time or a little more.

Erath is putting out some very drinkable wines at a good price. Pharmgal, do you ever make it into Portland? If you do, there is a wineshop up here you have to try.

Come to think of it, I think I met the owners of that dundee wine shop at a trade show we had recently....

Barnsey~

Yes, I make it into Portland now and then. In fact I used to live there and in Vancouver, Wa. for 10 years so I know the area quite well. What wine shop were you thinking of? I'm more familiar with downtown and east Portland than I am with the west side. I always got lost over there LOL!

I'm so glad I discovered the Wine Haus in Seaside. They have the most friendly and helpful staff and their free Friday night tastings are great! If you're ever over here on the north coast they're located in the Seaside Outlet Mall. Check 'em out.

E&R Wine on the 6100 block of Macadam is exceptional for both their selection and their friendliness. They have saturday tastings as well as many well priced fun events.

I went to their christmas tasting of Kermit Lynch wines for $15...over 50 wines.
