I am also looking for a good bottle of Sauternes, but don't want to shell out $200+ for a bottle of Yquem. Any suggestions?

You might try a Chateau Suduiraut. I paid $70 for one in '98, but haven't had a Sauternes since. Maison Nicolas also has one that's available in half-bottles for $9.99.

If you can find dessert wines from Loupiac you will benefit greatly; they are good and they cost a lot less than their neighbors in Sauterne. Loupiac is also produced from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon late harvest grapes.

I've had the Suduiraut (is this the right spelling?) once and really enjoyed it. I thought it had a distinctly nutty flavor as well as the sweetness of a dessert wine.
