Good morning people. My first of many questions. My son bought me ( a wine beginner) a bottle of Amarone Della Valpolicella - Negrar-2001. It was recommended to him by the store clerk! My question is: how long will it keep stored unopened at 55 degrees? Secondly I have started watching Andrea Immer(sp) on TV. My second question: Does she EVER drink a wine without saying OH WOW...... Just once I would LOVE to hear her say.....Yuch this tastes like crap......DO NOT buy this stuff.... Just kidding...........lol Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

You're a lucky man to have such a wonderful son! That is a really beautiful bottle of wine. 01' was a very good year for Amarone. This will keep for at least 5 years...maybe even 10.

I'm sure others will have opinions as well.

First question: Not long in my house. We love this juice.

Second question: She does a cartwheel at the beginning of her show. What do you expect?

Thirdly: Enjoy the Amarone. If you're not familiar with this type of wine, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

I have a couple bottles of Amarone in my cellar and it's so hard not to open it!

Let us know what you think of it. Please let it breathe in the glass for approx. 1 hour before you drink it.

This is my "I'm goin' to Jesus wine"!

Took me a while to get back to the liquor store. Bought last bottle in the rack! I should have asked previously but here goes. What would be the "best" food to pair with a bottle of this juice? If I should have asked in the food pairing thread I apologize ..... Just thought this thread would be frequented by the same people who have tried and liked it.

Brace yourself but the "classic" dish served with that in the Valpo Zona is a stew of horse meat served on top of polenta. But, any rich, slightly gamey meat will do: duck, venison, lamb, ect. Also, Amarone is excellent with big stinky cheeses at the end of a big meal.
