After 30 years of whiskey and beer I finaly found my home. This site has been a big help already. And to think just yesterday I thougt Woodbridge Merlot (2000) was good. Then I tried the Rex Goliath Merlot. Better (if you like chewing on wood..I do). Then I came here and did some research (also looked up reviews on Wine Spectator. I went in to my local shop armed with knowledge (kinda). Now I'm sipping a 2000 Blackstone Merlot. So much better than the Woodbridge (which seems kind of strong on the alcohol). I'm definately home now. I also picked up a 2000 Delicato Merlot that sounded fairly good. I'll try it over the holidays. I picked up a 2000 Sauvignon Blanc by Redwood Creek (Frei Bos). Never heard of it but the ladies keep asking for whites (but we all know red's are better...like I really know!) so I thought I would keep something around. This site has been a great resource already (after one whole day!). I have several note cards of wines to try now and I can't wait to get through that list. Of course I'm always looking for suggestions and I see that I should get plenty here. Looks like I can toss the beer bong and shot glasses now. Guess it's never to late to grow up. Thanks for help.

Hi Turbo, I'm a Newbie too. I tried a Rabbit Ridge Merlot 2000 that (I thought) was terrific. Now watch Bucko and the pros kick me upside the head for my audacity in recommending a wine. Talk about the blind leading the blind! Have fun.
