Hi everyone, Well I am very new to the wonderful world of wine. I was wondering if anybody could give me any recomendations for either reds or whites from New Zealand? I have had the great pleasure of enjoying their Sauvignon Blanc Montana Reserve and the Sav/Blanc Oyster Bay, both from the Marlbrough region. I hear they also have a Oyster Bay in a Merlo??? Any other suggestions would be great....Cheers

Welcome to the board Millie. I'm not familiar with New Zealand's red wines but enjoy many Sauvignon Blanc wines from there--Kim Crawford, Selak, Bedford Station, Blind River (may be mostly exported to USA) and others. I also like Kim Crawford unoaked Chardonnay.
Look a year back on the Australia and New Zealand thread or do a search by the name Skeeter. He is from Auckland, N.Z. and is involved with the wine industry and has posted some notes on red and white N.Z. wines.

One of more respected wine writers, who has spent a lot of time in your country, recommends these today in his newsletter: 2004 Alpha Domus, Sauvignon Blanc, Hawkes Bay ($14 U.S.), and 2003 Tohu, Pinot Noir Marlborough ($25 U.S.). It is a personal thing but we prefer SBs from Hawkes Bay to Marlborough, with exceptions of course.

Some NZ Pinot Noir we've enjoyed in the past include ones from Felton Road, Tohu (as recommended above), Dyed-in-the-Wool, and Forrest.

I second the advice to browse Skeeter's fine notes.
