I was given two bottles of C. Da Silva Isabel Blanco and Isabel Rose as a holiday gift. I know nothing about these and am unable to find information. Can anyone help?

Hi DeSilva and welcome to the board. I'm not privvy to the 71 vintage in Italy but with it being a disaster in France and the U.S. I'd wager it was bad also. Regardless, only great wines are meant to be cellared 33 years. Very doubtful these bottles are anytrhing but vinegar by now. Sorry. WW

thanks for the welcome and the heads up. I tend bar but, don't know much about old wines. I definately don't want to open anything that will offend my olfactory senses.

Took a guess. The name sounded Italian. Was correct on the bad vintage. WW

Remby,
Welcome to the board! Sorry that these wines turned out to be "not so good" but this is a great place to find some that are so good!

It is entirely possible that the person who gave you the wines thought they were good. There's a number of people out there who don't know that most wines are not meant to age. Some of them are probably drinking wine when it is over the hill and wondering why they don't like wine.
