Hi Magic, and welcome to the Wine Board. Dessert wines (aka sweet wines) are more expensive than regular table wines because of the way they are made from late season grapes, and with high residual sugar. You can buy half bottles (375 ml) of most. Recommend: a. Port; b. Provincial Banyuls. You get either starting at $15.00 for a full bottle. If you are just looking for an el cheapo sweet red, look for Italian Lambruscos.
