Hi Wine Board,
I am interested in collecting wines but still need to learn more about the different wines of the world. I am most interested in learning about French Wines first. I consider this a priority not because I think French wines are the greatest but rather an education of French wine seems to be fundamental when pursuing a wine education in general. The problem I run into however, is that reading about French wine is extreemly difficult for me. I do not speak French and have no idea how to correctly pronounce what I am reading. Can anyone out there recomend a practical way of learning about French Wines and their correct pronunciation. Perhaps tapes, videos or inexpensive wine courses.

Hi Michaal$ and welcome to the board. From everything I've heard, read, and been privvy to " Wine For Dummies " is the best source for newbies to obtain a working knowledge of wine, them funny names, and what shat-toes go wif' which bottle of juice. When you get to the point of purchase, I'd be more than happy to impart what little input I can in your choices. WW

The Windows on the World wine book is very good for a beginner as well. The 2003 edition is out and I have used it a lot with picking out wines. It is easy to read and has excellent suggestions.
