A wine I'd like to recommend

I've only tried about 30 wines so far. I found one that is clearly the best of them. Just thought I'd share my finding:

Company: Dunnigan Hills
Type: Syrah
Year: 2000
Cost: $12-13

The label is dark red and is oval shape with the largest letters on the bottle being "EXP".

Also wondering if I'm on track in thinking this is an awesome wine. If anyone could recommend others like it, please do so.

Hi DP, and welcome to the Wine Board. Haven't tried it yet, but have heard many good things about it from people I trust. Cruise around the Board, particularly the threads on wines you are interested in (choose Rhone for syrah), and you will find lots of good recommendations.

Hey DP, looks like Charlotte and the surrounding area is realy getting into wine. Even the Charlotte Desturber has a wine section on wednesdays. It rates a wine each week and gives recomendations on others. Although I trust the opinions on this board more. Check it out it is interesting. And there are more and more wine events taking place in Charlotte.

Also I would recomend the wine tastings at Total Wines on Fridays and Saturdays. You can taste the difference of wines with out having to buy them first.

Hi there DP and welcome. The EXP line of wines are indeed super P/Q wines. They make a full range and the reds I've tried are the Syrah and Cabernet, both good drinkers. IKs' advice is rite on. Look at the posts on the various threads and you can get a tongue-up on some tasty juice. Have fun. WW

Just a little FYI.

The EXP on the lable is for experiment. They considered the planting of Syrah and Vioginer just that and really didn't have any intention of it working. They hoped and were pleased with the result and ran with it.

They are located just outside Sacramento (1/2 hr drive) and are one of the most accomodating wineries out there.

They just merged with Hogue so their port folio is rapidly expanding.

A wine that I think you should try is Guenoc Petit Syrah. It shouldn't be that much money and I think you will like it.
