I have a bottle of Warre's 1977 Vintage Port.
Does port have to be drunk at a certain time or can I leave this to age (forever)?

I'd drink it in the next ten years.

I'd drink it on the next cool night, which we seem to be having in the Northeast on a regular basis...

Yeah, tell me. This may be another one of those once in a century year without a summer.

had a glass of port myself last night- on my porch wearing a sweater!! Maybe we are skipping spring and will go right to the 90+ days?!

I wish you folks would pipe down about the weather. It could stay like this all summer and I'd be very happy! If you're chilly, just drink more Port!

I'll be glad to trade some of my 90+ degrees for some of your 50's! At least, now we're getting some rains.

So what's wrong with this picture? It is 85 degrees and sunny in Seattle! Too hot for us wet feet.

No, you cannot age even Portos forever. '77s are drinking very well right now. However, as noted above, you could certainly hold this bottle for another decade or more.

A key question that must be answered in determining whether to drink or hold is "How has it been stored?"

You say you have "a bottle". Have you had it for 23 years and kept it in proper storage conditions? if not, where was it? The best ports can go bad in 10 years if poorly stored.
