I was wondering I would like to purchase a bottle of wine for a friend for a gift. I know very little about wines, our friend is an expert on wines and my wife and I would like to get him something nice. He will want to drink it as he is not a collector and he perfers Reds. Any Idead's and where I could get it.

Let's answer the "where" first, because that's the easiest. You are in Pennsylvania; therefore you go to the Pennsylvania State Liquor Store. They do frequently have helpful sales clerks which is where you may have to go for advice. The reason is that the "what" is more difficult to answer. The only clue you give is "red." Price points are very important. You may not know much about wine, but you certainly know what you can afford. If you come back with that we can be of some help. In the interest of saving time you might just go to your state store and tell them you need an approachable red wine in the $XX.XX range. The approachable part, means you can take to your friend a ready to drink bottle of wine. That point is particulaly important if you are spending upwards of $20.00. Most less expensive wines are approachable on release.

How much would you like to spend? There are very good and reasonable choices in the $10 -$20 range, but you might want to spend a bit more if it is a special occasion, opening up a wider selection of options.

Cheers,
