Hi PV and welcome to the Wine Board. Look for 2001 Chateau Puy-Blanquet, St Emilion (Around $15). It is a Bordeaux. Those from St Emilion are predominantly Merlot. Varietal Merlot (wine made with just that grape) from North or South America or even the French Vins de la Paye, tend to be singularly dimentional.

If you like California Merlots Beringers Knights Valley Merlot is selling here in Chicago for just under $20.

If you have a good retailer in your vacinity they will be able to help you.
