I recemtly purchased a mixed case of 05 Oliver dry reds, cab sav, merlot, zin, and shiraz(I don't know why its not called syrah, this is the US). Any way, when I told my older brother I was going to sit on all but the shiraz for a few years he said the zin wasn't supposed to be kept that long. Is that right? When tasting at the winery, it had some firm tannins I thought might resolve with age, but since it was my first experience with zin, I guess I don't really know what to expect. I've had their 99 merlot so I'm sure the 05 will age out nicely. But what about zinfandel? WP

Well. I guess I should look before I leap. I found the answer to my question in a post from WW in Dec. 02. If anyone else is curious, it was recommended to save most zins no more than 5 or 6 yrs. WP

WP the reason I didn't answer your post is I'm not familiar with Oliver. As with all advice there are exceptions such as Ridges' Geyserville and Lytton Springs and Zins from Joe Swan and Scherrer. WW
