Hello wine board!
I'm planning on organizing a wine-taste-evening for a group of friends, most of them don't have a lot of experience with wines.

My question is what would be a nice way to introduce them to the "world of wines"... Should I try same grapes from different wine regions or better to serve different grapes from one region? And does anyone have any idea's on a interesting wine from a not so obvious wine producing country, Marocco or Lebanon maybe?? I have a meeting coming up for work, for which we are expected to bring an "original" bottle of wine...

Any idea's to help me out would be great!! Thanks in advance! FD

Hi Fly, and welcome to the Wine Board. The best way to approach this is to figure on serving three reds and three whites. They should go this way: First the whites from lightest to fullest; then the reds in the same order. A full line of finger food and hunks of bread to go with all are necessary. There should also be buckets for people to pour out wine they don't want to finish.

Once you get the hang of this, you can be more specialized. Wines from a given region is a good idea, but similar wines from the same grape is for well versed tasters. You retailer will help you out for those first selections.
