1967 Antoniolo Gattinara Bottle

I have a bottle of 1967 Superior Dry Red Wine made by Antoniolo Gattinara passed down from my grandmother. Before we drink it what should it taste like and what is the market value (should we NOT drink it)

How was it stored? In a fairly humid location at about 51 to 55 degrees F?

Can't answer your question about the specific wine or the vintage without doing some research.

However, if that 33 almost 34 year old bottle of wine was not properly stored, you've most likely got a candidate for mixture with some olive oil as a coating for a salad.

But I wouldn't even do that, because unless the right bacteria were present in the bottle when it was sealed, the type of vinegar you have will not be pleasant tasting at all.......

As far as I can tell, it has been stored okay. tilted. can't vouch for the humid temperature though. label looks new and bottle looks clean(?)

The only true test is taste. Set that sucker up-right for about 24 to 40 hours; then gently decant it.

Make sure, however, that you have a back-up bottle of known quality available in case this one is a dud.

Give it a try; otherwise, you'll never know for sure.
