I recently bought a "new to me", old house. In the basement I came across (2) bottles of 1972 PERIDIER Beaujolais (appellation controlee, Recolte 1972) from Michel Perrin. Negociant a morey-saint denis (COTE-D'OR) FRANCE. I am a wine novice and am wondering what if anything I have stumbled across. Any input or help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Beaujolais is a light red wine. As such it does not have those characteristics that fuller reds have to enable long term aging.
Therefore, plan to open yours as soon as possible, and try to sort of stand out of the way as you do it. If it is for a planned affair you might want to have a bottle or two of 1999 Beaujolais standing by.
