I am just starting out in the wine buying industry. I have recently joined a wine tasting class to help in my research for buying wine as an investment.

Where can I find out about new wine on the market that has gotten reviews from top
wine experts?

What are the best wines to get involved with as an investment, I've read that Burgundy-red and Bordeaux-red, for the future?

There's a brand new book titled The Compleat Wine Investor ($29.95) by William Sokolin, a New York wine merchant. I haven't read it cover to cover, but it appears to be a very good basic book, especially for someone just starting.

There's a big book published annually titled Wine Price File ($44) which tracks auction and retail prices on top collectables, the big name Bordeaux, Burgundy and even California wines and some fancy desserts types, too.

A small book published in paperback each year and called California Wine Winners ($8.95), lists all the major medal winners from the top nine wine competitions in America.

Keep studying...taste at every opportunity...and take notes and form palate memories. Writing it down helps you remember. The best tasters have great memories for taste experiences.
