I have noticed that sometimes, with certain red wines, a residue will accumulate on my lips and teeth after a few glasses. It happens to some degree with just about any red, but some wines make it much more apparent. What quality of wine causes this? Is it tannin? I would think not. Any body else notice this?

It's a residue of pigment extract from the skins of the grapes.
