A client gave me a bottle of french wine and I'm curious about the type of wine it is. At the top of the bottom label is Chateau De La Cour. The middle of the label is Gros Plant Du Pays Nantais. The very bottom left of the label is the name Pierre Sauvetre and under his name the word viticulteur. The very bottom right of the label is the town/city of Le Landreau-L.A.
44430 France. It appears to be white in color and the year 1995 is on the top label above the words Servir Frais. I would appreciate any information. Thanks.

Hello Rhoperr.Your wine came from the Pays Nantais (Nantes) which is in the region of Sevre-et-Maine in the Loire Valley, France. Gros Plant is the second wine of the region, Muscadet being the first. Gros Plant can be rather nice; goes well with seafood. It’s similar in style to Muscadet, about the same dryness but has more acidity. Serve chilled. Usually best drank young, so I guess your will be rather past its best. But, as I always say – you never can be certain until you pop the cork. Something in the back of my old mind tells me that Chateau de la Cour is a real castle, but I’m not really sure. Pierre Sauvetre is the producer. Hope that’s helpful. T

Here is a link to the photo of the chateau. I'm hoping moderators won't mind the link.

Thank you very much for the information. It has been most helpful. I have put it in the fridge and I am looking forward to popping the cork soon.

Thanks again,
Rhonda
