I have been a fan of whites for many years (especially Johan. Riesling and Gerwurztraminer). I would like to explore reds, but they generally make me pucker. I have been given a bottle of Bordeaux, but I am afraid to try it because of my past experience with reds. Can anyone recommend some reds that aren't too strong.

Thank you!

Hi Coug, and welcome to the Wine Board. Try the various styles of syrah/shiraz. From France's Rhone district: Cotes Du Rhone (and CDR Villages), St Joseph, Crozes Hermitage; syrah from America's left coast, particularly
Washington State and California's Central Coast; and shiraz from the Land of Oz.

Also try some red zins...they're very fruit forward and a good stepping stone IMHO.
