Dear Sirs and Madams,

I wanted to know, whether someone can help me with giving me hints on what are the successful years for Merlot wines? I know, for example, that 1990 was more successful than 1989, and older the wine does not necessarily mean the better wine.

THANKS

Hi Sly, and welcome to the Wine Board. The best recent years for California Merlot are 1999 and 2001. For Bordeaux (East Bank that are predominately Merlot) is 2000. The Northwest, predominately Washington State, has been excellent in all recent vintages.

Thank you very much. Can you go back in years please? The thing is, that I am interested in Vintage wines. Also, if you can, please include couple of white wines as well (I am not white wine fan, but must have in my house).

Again, thank you very much

It seems you may be looking for a vintage chart - so here's one.
