I am planing a dinner party and want to find a nice Cabernet, Merlot or Pinot Noir from 1969 but I am not sure if it was a good year for any of them. Could you please give a novice some advice and help me make the right choice.

Thanks,
Barry

69 was a premier vintage in Calif. Unfortunately, the wines are very expensive. If money is of no object one of the greatest wines in my experience is the Heitz " Martha's Vineyard." Saw it at 20/20 Wine Merchants in W Los Angeles last month. Their web is www.2020wine.com and their E-Mail is wine2020@aol.com Think the price was around 300 bucks per clatter. WW

Some french Burgundy's are still hanging on as well from 69', but good luck finding someone who has them and is willing to part with them. Just make sure they were stored properly.

Hi Barry, and welcome to the Wine Board. If you go to www.wine-searcher.com you can find some interesting results. First click on US only. Then enter Grand Cru Bourgogne, Vintage 1969. You will find a nice Echezeaux for $190.00. Then go back and ask for California Cabernet Sauvignon, Vintage 1969. You will find five choices. The one I like best is Maycamus, California Mountain for $120. Would love to suck on either one one of these.
