A very good friend of mine just got engaged and he is one of the reasons that I'm "into wine" now, as they say.

I figure I'll get him something worth about $75 CAD, so probably in the $50 - $60 range USD.

He likes real "big" Cabs or other "big" wines - wines that explode in his mouth and are really smooth with a long finish. Other examples of wines that he's told me really liked were Cakebread and big Chilean Cabs. He's really looking forward to opening the Caymus Special Selection he's got waiting for him for a few years.

Any ideas? Recommendations? Thanks guys!

Ill put a plug in for the Concha Y Toro Don Melchor again. Just a fantastic cab plus you could get 2 bottles for around $70USD.

Others I would consider ie. would put a smile on my face if you gave it to me would be...

Shafer Cab
Clos Apalta
Montes Alpha M (now i have reused all my SA recs.)
Kelham Vineyards Cab
CSJ Cinq Cepages
Pride Cab although i didnt think the 03 was that great, maybe it just needs time.

Just promise me you wont get Silver Oak and you should be fine! Happy Hunting.
