Mexico

As I've previously stated I live in central CA and there are many people from Mexico who lives here now. Some of my very best friends are originally from Mexico.

I've been trying to get some of them into wine, with varying degrees of success, and a common question is, "Why can't we ever find any Mexican wine?"

I've done a bit of research and apparently they are starting to produce some better wines south of the border. I'm sure it will take them a while to produce a lot of high quality "stuff".

So I guess I'm wondering what my wineboard friends know about wine from Mexico and if anyone knows somewhere in Central CA where I could pick some up. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to ordering it online if shipping won't break me.

I know that they make wine in Mexico too but I've never had the opportunity to try them either. I would be very interested in trying them (I love to try wines from less traditional locations [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img] )

Also, general convention is that the best regions for wine exist between 30 degrees and 50 degrees and mexico is just outside of this range, so it is starting from a disadvantage already. it is too warm.

Have tried many wines from Mexico as CB and I go to Rocky Point twice yearly and so far the best I can say for them is they compare with the stuff we vinify here in Arizona. Will admit they have improved drastically over the last 10 years but stick to the areas that have proven themselves. WW
