I read the posts from 1999 about restaurants serving their red wine too warm, but didn't hear about any suggestions on what one can do about it. Any ideas!!!

Easy. Ask the restaurant to put an ice bucket on the table. Toss in a little water, then swirl the bottle in the ice/water slurry. The bottle will cool down in about 2 to 3 minutes. Of course, getting them to store the wines under ideal conditions would take a whole lot more doing.

Hi Lamiller, and welcome to the Wine Board. Agree with KC. Another plan is to tell them to put it in the freezer while your steak is cooking. This may get you into an argument with the server, but you won't have people at adjacent tables pointing at your ice bucket and snickering.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I assume I'm out of luck if I'm just a glass.

Always order water with your wine. If the wine is too warm, take a small cube of ice from the water and put it into the wine. I would rather it be a little diluted than drink it warm. Don't order another glass unless they change their policy.
