hi all...i'm a newbie here....

hey, we just received a bottle of Hogue Cellars Merlot, 1994...people here in WA are raving about how great Hogue is and how they're getting national acclaim. I'm not sure how true that is.

I was trying to find a way to see how this wine ranks but I don't do enough research to justify paying for the Wine Spectator's online subscription....blah blah blah

anyhow, can anyone tell me if this is a good, decent, average, below average wine?

thanks,

SG

Sorry you have not gotten an answer to your question yet. Even more sorry, because I can not help you. I am not familiar with the wine for which you are seeking information.

Maybe that someone else here can help. However, often, when a question goes unanswered it does not mean we are being rude; it just means no one here has the answer.

Soilent, here's what WS sez about the wine...I have no personal tn's though. If they're correct in their rating...looks like you oughta drink up. Please post your tasting notes when you open.

1994
Merlot Columbia Valley Hogue $15.00 89 points
Washington
Spectator Selection
11/15/96

A lovely mouthful of black cherry, blueberry, spice and cedar flavors that's soft and mellow. This Washington red is supple and tasty now, at its best through 1999. 84 percent Merlot and 16 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. (18284 cases produced)

Soil, no response would have been better than what you posted. Looking for tasting and storage notes is one thing, trying to determine if you were 1 uped on a gift, yet another....I hope your wine is corked.
