A couple of years ago I had a few bottles of the 2000 Shafer Napa Valley Merlot and I really enjoyed it. Does anyone know anything about the Shafer 2002 NV? Any recommendations of other wines comparable and not too pricey? I like cabernet and most reds, specially the ones w/ heavy bodies. HELP!

Shafer 2002 NV?

Did you try a google search for the 2002 or non-vintage?

Novice my self *wink That is why I am here.

http://www.shafervineyards.com/distributors.html

This link suggests it is sold in New Orleans and lists a number. I don't know how far away you are. Also, you can visit you local wine shop and maybe ask them to order some for you if you give them this info.

WW is in Vegas this week or he would probably be replying. I believe he considers Shafer to be a reliable label year after year so the 2002 is probably good.

I saw this at my local store. Have you tried all the stores in your area. I can find out some information on distributers if you want.

Wile,
I'm in Covington, LA, 45min. from New Orleans and my store here is Rouse's, just a grocery w/ a "good little wine selection".
I'd like to see your list, to see what's still available around here. Many businesses here shut doors since the hurricane.

Back, bowed but unbroken. Shafer makes consistanly superior reds year-after. 02 was a terrific year for NV reds. WW

Thanx, WW. I'm going to get it at my local store here in Loisiana. At U$43,00/bottle, seems just about right comparing to the online prices.
