Hi Suzy and welcome to the Wine Board. If you are looking for wine by the glass, it is best to order that which they are likely to have. For whites ask for Pinot Grigio or chardonnay. For reds ask for cabernet sauvignon (or just cabernet) or merlot. If you want to order the wine to go with dinner it gets more complicated. You might want to check your library or local Borders for "Great Tastes Made Simple" by Andrea Immer. It is a book about wine/food matching by one of the country's top wine experts.

Hi SusyQ,

When you go out, what do you normally drink? Do you drink sweeter drinks (amaretto) or tarter drinks (gin & tonic). If you tell us what flavor profile you normally drink we can better direct you.
