a dry red wine?

I am a total wine idiot, so please bear with me. I am looking for a dry red wine as was suggested for a wassail (a punch of sorts). I'm looking for something in about the $17 and under category. Any advice? Also, which types of reds would fall into the dry category? TIA!

Hi Canavin, and welcome to the Wine Board. Any Bordeaux that you can find that costs $12 or less. Anything of higher quality would be a waste. Don't mean you can't get decent Bordeaux in the recommended price range. Wassail (to the best of my knowledge) was tradionally made with "Claret." Claret is a light Bordeaux.
