I am happy to see this is for a "novice" as I enjoy a good bottle of wine but no nothing about the art of picking a good wine. I have been given a couple of bottles that I was hoping someone could tell me about. The have been in an old couples closet for years.

Beaulieu Vineyard
Rutherford
Cabernet Sauvignon
Estate Bottled 1989

M.G. Vallejo
1984 Cabernet Sauvignon

Should I drink them?
Sell them?
Pour them down the drain?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi kjb# and welcome to the board. Op[en both carefully, pour a little into a glass, sniff and if a semblance of wine is left, take a small sip. 89 was a cruel year so probably the drain and tho 84 was a fine vintage Vallejo wines are made to be consumed on purchase. Good luck. WW
