I am relatively new to the wine scene. My wife and I drink and taste wines at least 3 times a week.

I am often told how good my palate is and have built up a decent sized collection over the last 4 years.

Question: Is there a good chart or website that I can used to find the "drink by dates" of specific wines?

Any assistanece would be MUCH appreciated.

The majority of wines are meant to be consumed within several years of release. I've found that with good storage you can add a couple of years to that before they start to decline. If you visit vineyards websites they often have winemaker notes that guesstimate the timeline for the particular wine as well as wine critic ratings eg. Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Robin Garr, Stephen Tanzer, Randy Buckner, Verne Batchelor and a host of others....

Welcome to the board. For years, I've relied on the members of this board and the published charts in Wine Spectator for info on drinking windows for my wines. But after joining CellarTracker yesterday, can also use that as a valuable resource, since drinking windows are automatically appended to each wine's data line as it's entered into the database. 'Way cool, as daughter would say.

Berry Brothers and Rudd website has a general guide vintage chart such as red Burgundies from 1996, 1997, etc. indicating keep, drink or keep, or ready. It also rates the vintage from 1 (very poor) to 10 (outstanding). These are generalities however and probably geared to the better wines of that reagion (premier cru and grand cru Burgundies; classified growths of Bordeaux, etc.) http://www.bbr.com/GB/shopping/vintage-french.lml?ID=CX13BQW06GS00C0
