Tell me about Shiraz???

New to this....can someone tell me about Shiraz??? What kind of wine is it?? What is it's taste??? What do I serve it with???
Any other information would be helpful????

Shiraz is the name of the grape in Australia and So. Africa--also known as syrah in most of the rest of the wine world.

It is usually a bold red wine, with a peppery-spicy character.

Lamb, various hard cheeses and sometimes chocolate.
