Well, here's what an on-line wine guide says about it.

"mass producers have devised ways to produce facsimiles of historic German wines that appeal to the least experienced wine drinker. Without snobbishness, it is only fair to consider these sweet, low acid "Blue Nun" style wines from lesser varietals a less serious category of beverage."

Sekt is the German term for sparkling wine (they respect France's geographic claim to the use of "Champagne".) So this would be a German sparkling wine or bubbly.
