Hi Djtrauma, and welcome to the Wine Board. If you explore our threads you can learn a lot. Their titles are self explanatory.

A great if the not the best book for beginners is "Great Wine Made Simple" by Andrea Immer (Robinson). It is available in hard and paper back, new and used. We highly recommend it.
