Hi Stan and welcome to the board. To my knowledge there cannot be a blush Chablis as all blush wines are the result of taking a red grape, crushing it, leaving the juice on the skins just long enough to get some color and Voila! Blush. As chablis is made from a white grape, it can`t become a blush wine unless some juice from a red grape is added. Thus white zin is made from zinfandel grapes, Rose of Pinot Noir from Pinot grapes Etc. Hope this helps.winoweenie

CCK, Again a blush has to be made from a red grape. And tho neither ever passes my lips, Chablis, as Stan is inquiring about isn`t Chalis/Chablis from France but good ole` Gallo Chablis from Modesto which sure `aint your papas` Chard. winoweenie

Guys, go into your local DRUG store and see what passes for "wine":

Almond FLAVORED Chablis in 9 liter bag in the boxes, and in this case Chablis = Chenin Blanc and Thompson Seedless.

Cranberry Twist Merlot (Dan Berger must be rolling in his grave and he isn't even dead yet!).

I am listing the following out of a Liquor Wholesaler Catalogue:

Emerald Glen Blush Pump
Emerald Glen Blush Toggle (these are dispensing systems for corporate chain restaurants, they also have "Chianti" and "Burgundy")

Velvet Chianti Classico in 4 ltr jugs (made in Downtown LA and sold by third generation Italian Americans who also import great Vini Italiani and should know better)

I see things in trade magazines that make me want to KILL people. There are absolutely Blush Chablis on the market (probably made with Thompson Seedless, food coloring and corn syrup and labed as "Wine with Natural and Artificial Flavors") and MUCH worse simmering in the minds of the marketing weasels at Hiram Walker, Brown Forman and Seagrams (who are developing alco-pop with caffeine and guarana for that "all night buzz" according to All About Beer Magazine).

ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH, Roberto

Winowennie,
I am am well aware of what grapes go into what wines. But as Roberto pointed out we're not dealing with normal wines here, but food grade wines. As for the Chardonnay I was simply pointing for out Stan's knowledge what chablis really is, not what it has become here in the US.
