I have two bottles of '95 Chateau La Mondotte - St. Emilion. Wine Spectator & Parker rate later vintages and the lable on the '98 is different than that on my bottles. I paid significantly less than the $350/bottle going rate for the '98.

Is this the same winery? What happened to cause the skyrocketing prices?

As is the case with a lot of names in Bordeaux, there are duplications that would seem to be the same but them 'aint. The winery did a 360* in 96 and is now producing some of the most concentrated wines in St. Em. The wines are selling in the price range of 1st growths and a total production of less than 2000 cases a year the wine has rapidly achieved cilt status. I have no idea where the 95 fits in thois picture, but if'n it be the same vineyard, let's bust open one of them suckers, call the weenie and i'll bring the whors'dvores. WW ( The goin' rate is 400 per clatter Buck-skinflint )

Totally ridiculous. I just won't play the wine price escalation game. There is too much good juice out there for a fraction of the cost.

True about the corked boxes, but they can be cooked!

As a matter of fact that is exactly what I use them for. Pour out the contents to water the lawn and use the box as a starter material for the fireplace.

Works every time!
