Wine for Thanksgiving at my Boss' House?

I have been invited to my boss' house for Thanksgiving dinner and volunteered to bring the wine. Any suggestions --both red and white-- with price somewhere in the $25-$50 range?

There will be 10 of us and I was thinking I would bring 2 white and 1 red (assuming not everyone will want wine).

Hi, and welcome to the wine board.

Generally speaking, you should plan for 1 750ml bottle to serve 2 people, so you may want to bring at least 4 bottles (again, assuming that not everyone will be drinking, but planning to be safe, nevertheless). I'd suggest 2 whites and 2 reds. You didn't say what would be served at the dinner, but a safe white choice for a variety of T-giving dishes would be Riesling. You can look at the thread below for suggestions, but a Finger Lakes, NY one from Dr. Konstantin Frank would be good. Expect it to run about $16. For the reds, Pinot Noir would likely be a good bet. Again, take a look at the threads below for some suggestions, but a safe option that won't break the bank is an Oregon Pinot Noir from Torii Mor. It runs around $20. Both suggestions are pretty widely available, as I'm not sure where you're located. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

I agree with the above. A nice sparkling wine, not too dry, would also be good.

If you really want to WOW them, get a bottle of eiswine (or icewine, if Canadian) as an apeterif or dessert wine. It's about $50-$60 for a half bottle, but well worth it. Everybody gets a little taste!
