Pinotage

I got home from Israel about 2 weeks ago (glad I am home now!) and brought with me a bottle of an Israeli pintoage. I know it crosses the pinot noir grape but that is all I know about it. Can anyone tell me what to expect out of such a wine? I know what you can tell me is more limited until I can check the label at home report the name and vintage.

Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, and it generally shows berry qualities with a gamy/spicy streak. Sometimes it can be too gamy. It is best consumed young, like within 3-5 years, but better South African examples can age quite nicely (Kanonkop, for example).
