Is there a web site that lists by definition Wines by their colors?

I have always heard that

Dry =White
Rose = Pink
Sweet = Red
Burgendy = Blood Red

is there a site that better defines wine by their color?

thanks

Hi Burks and welcome to the Wine Board. What you have always heard is far from accurate. Color of wine is determined by the color of the grape it is made from, and in the case of red grapes made into rose' wine, how long the juice from the grapes is in contact with the skins.

Almost all table wine (with the main courses) is dry be it white, red, or rose'. Dessert wine of any color is sweet. Yes rose' is pink. Burgundy is made from the pinot noir grape which is actually lighter in color than most other reds.

Recommend that instead of wondering all over this site and other internet sites, that you just get a good book. "Wine For Dummies" is a great place to start. Among other things they tell you what color all the principal wine grapes are.

Burks, welcome to the board. I've got to say that it just doesn't work like that: there is very little correlation between color and flavor and NONE between color and sweetness. Wine is a very diverse and interesting subject and it refuses to be put in small boxes. Just go out and taste as many different types (not brands) as you can and you'll start to get the hang of it.
