There are lots of differences between the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. They're produced in different regions of France, from different grapes, with different winemaking styles, by different types of vintners. They're both red and French, but otherwise very different.

In addition to what Hotwine mentioned, there is the difference of grape varieties. Bordeaux is generally a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot blend with other grapes (Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot) in lesser amounts. Burgundy is pinot Noir.

Also, Burgundy plots or parcels of land tend to be smaller than Bordeaux plots, which can add to the scarcity and high prices. (Bordeaux wines were classified in 1855 as to top vineyards, 1st growth, second growth, on through fifth. While some of the wines may not deserve the same high rating today and others that are better today are not officially classified as such, this 1855 rating still affects reputation and price of Bordeaux wines. The vineyards that are classified growths are going to be quite pricy.)
